In September 2020, the local onion price of onion increased up to MMK 1000 per viss because there were large buyers of Indian and Chinese demanding on Myanmar onion. In October, because of the COVID-19 lockdown in Myanmar, it is difficult to harvest, clean and transport onion from place to place, and thus exporters have stopped buying local onion. The local price of onion decreases to MMK 650 per viss.
