Pineapple shipments from the Philippines to the Gulf port of Jebel Ali have encountered a major issue. Some containers were not immediately trans-loaded to the mother vessel bound for the Gulf. There was no immediate resolution to the disputes among the carrier, consignee, and pineapples exporters from the Philippines. A single shipment from the port of loading in Davao, Philippines to the port of discharge, which used to take 21 days, has been extended to 38 days. There's one shipment that was scheduled to arrive in Jebel Ali on November 17, 2022 but was only able to reach Jebel Ali port in Dubai on December 04, 2022. Consignee's fruit inspectors observed a significant impact on fresh pineapple quality. Pineapples have problems with mold, high color, and some rot defects. The only immediate solution is to switch to another service provider with more vessels and a proven track record or better handling operations.
