The marine fish for consumption supply is safe ahead of Ramadan. Total fish catch production in the first quarter of 2022 as of 10 March 2022 was 1,609.6 MT. In detail, production in January was 660.5 MT, February 750.2 MT, and early March was 208.7 MT. The fish catch comes from several locations such as Jakarta, Belawan, Padang, Pekalongan, Tegal, Brondong, Surabaya, Pemangkat, Benoa, Makassar, Ambon, Bitung, Bacan, Sorong and Gorontalo. Several fish commodities experienced moderate price increases of around USD 0.070 to USD 0.14 per kg.

Fish traders acknowledge this price increase as having no effect on demand. The fish that surged up was fish for daily household consumption, such as mackerel, scad fish, skipjack tuna, and tuna. The price of skipjack tuna, as an example, at the beginning of the year was recorded at USD 1.11 per kg. However, approaching Ramadan, the price of skipjack tuna rose to USD 1.18 per kg.
