Myanmar increases rice export despite high currency exchange due to typhoon in neighboring countries

Despite the record high appreciation of Myanmar currency, there was an increase in rice exports from Myanmar in October due to the typhoon in Vietnam, the Phillippines, and China. To be specific the rice exports from Myanmar doubled compared to the same period in 2019. According to the Myanmar Rice-Federation, this year Myanmar exported 2.5 million MT of rice & broken (valued at USD 794.3 million) while last year it was only USD 570 million.
