Ghanaian cocoa farmers across the country have started breaking and drying cocoa pods in anticipation of the government's official announcement of the new harvest season, which commences in October, 2022. Though the government is yet to officially announce the new harvest price for the 2023 season, some cocoa farmers are quoting around USD 0.80/kg or USD 48.00/60kg bag in the market. Prices are likely to increase once COCOBOD (Ghana Cocoa Board) announces the official price for the new season and opens up the gate for licensed buying companies or clerks to start procuring the crops from farmers.
