New competitors of healthy products appear

In Portugal, new competitors are investing and making strategic moves. Nutrinvest SGPS SA is a holding of the Group Jorge de Melo, one of the biggest groups in Olive Oil and other Oil in the world, with a turnover of around EUR 1,100 million. Nutrivest SGPS SA completed the acquisition of A Centazzi, on 14 December 2021, to reinforce the strategy of the group with the project “Sovena Feeding Futures”, which is based on a circular economy and healthy agriculture products.

Sonae Mc also invested in this area, with the subsidiary “Sonae Food4Future”, and the acquisition of 95.4% of the share capital of Gosh. Food owner Claybell, for around USD 5516338.56 in September 2021.
