New railway corridor will boost Brazilian Midwest grain competitiveness

The Governors of states 'Parana' and 'Mato Grosso do Sul' have signed the agreement for a railroad that will connect the midwest to the southern port of Paranagua, in Brazil.
The railroad will have an extension of 1,371 km (857 miles) and will be comprised of new railway section, improvement of the existing railway section and construction of a new multimodal terminal, benefiting the flow of grains from the Brazilian western agricultural belt and also Paraguay - a landlocked country.
The Westen Export Corridor, as it is called, will also be connected to the rest of the Braziliam railway network.
