The coconut value chain in Nigeria is being strengthened locally to encourage more investments and yield higher revenue from primary production, processing and exports. Through associations and agencies, the government has embarked on the distribution and replanting of improved seedlings, farmer training on better farm practices and adoption of technology. Such organizational support will help to boost the country's annual harvest volume of coconut and gradually phase out imports from neighboring countries.
