The prices of 3A long-life salad tomatoes, have declined at the Distribution Centers in recent days. Between August 24 and 28, the average spot price was around R$ 39.65* at São Paulo capital, R$ 47.22* in Campinas (São Paulo state), R$ 46.04* in Rio de Janeiro and R$ 32.11* in Belo Horizonte (MG), with respective devaluations of 24.2%, 10.5%, 18.4% and 20.2% compared to the averages of the previous week.
It has been reported that higher temperatures during the last days accelerated the rate of ripening of tomatoes, gradually increasing the supply in the market. However, the weather is still cold in general, and the end-of-month period kept demand retracted.
