Peruvian Cacao exporters generated commitments for 5.7 million dollars

According to Promperu, the virtual business conference of the Cacao and Chocolate Show generated commitments for 5.7 million dollars for the next 12 months.

The business conference, had the participation of 49 buyers, who were summoned by Promperú's commercial offices around the world.

Buyers where from the following markets: United States (10) and France (8), followed by Belgium, Canada and the Netherlands (5 each), in addition to Germany, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Poland and Sweden.

21 Peruvian exporters from Junín, Lima, Cusco, San Martín, Piura, Madre de Dios, Huánuco and Amazonas, offered products such as cocoa beans and derivatives such as butter, pasta, powder, as well as chocolates, most of which are certified organic and fair trade.

Between January and July 2020, cocoa bean exports reached 62.7 million dollars. Being the main destination markets: Belgium (22.9% share), Netherlands (21.5%) and United States (15.2%). The countries with the highest growth rates were Japan (353%), the United States (170.5%) and Belgium (124.8%).

Peru has 16 cocoa-producing regions and 193,000 hectares dedicated to this product, with a production of 130,000 tons.
