The collective fishing farm named after Lenin is one of the largest fish processing enterprises in the Khabarovsk Territory, which is engaged in the production of shrimp, pollock, herring, and salmon. Dmitry Khalilyulin, chairman of the Lenin Fishing Collective Farm, spoke about preparations for the spring herring season, the enterprise's problems due to the sanctions situation, and how the fishing industry will develop in the future.

The herring export volume is expected to grow because winter was warm, and ice formation is small. The main consumer of this fish in Asian countries: are China, Korea, and Japan. Japan mainly buys females from us, while China and Korea buy males and the domestic market. But now, the situation is complicated; it is still unknown whether Asian countries will buy fish from us this year. But, of course, we hope for the best that the herring will come and that they will buy it. The herring will be caught in 2022.

The price of fuel has grown significantly. For example, the price cost of USD 0.83 rose by USD 0.37 and is now USD 1.21. In 2021, the price for fuel volume that was needed cost USD 1.2M. In 2022, the same amount of fuel volume would cost USD 2.1M, which also hurts the sale of the product.
