For the last 3 years, farming seabreams in ponds has been very common in Portugal. The production volume and price of seabream have been relatively stable. To illustrate, the farmgate prices for a size between 400-600g range from EUR 6 to 6.5 per kg. Despite the increased production cost due to the rise in the cost of fish meal and energy in recent years, the price has been stable. It is a niche market with practically all the products exported to Spain.
