The lack of labor at harvest campaigns where the work is more manual and less mechanical, like grapes, stone fruits, citrus, and apples is a challenge in Portugal. Almost 90% of the harvest had been made with temporary laborers from countries such as Nepal and the Philippines for 3 to 6 months. However, the emigrants are choosing other countries like Italy and the UK due to higher salaries in 2021.
