The demand for pineapples increased due to several reasons. The first would be the Mahashivaratri festival in India on the first week of February. The average temperature increased from 26°C on the last week of January to 29°C in the first week of February demand for fruits increased. However, due to the Omicron wave in Kerala, most small farmers faced difficulties in pineapple planting resulting in production shortage. For these reasons, the pineapple price went up to 0.6 USD per Kg in just a week's difference.
