Until August, exports of products of the capsicum genus totaled FOB US $ 111 million, 13% more than the shipments made the previous year. Although the result is positive, it is far from reaching the values obtained before 2017, since from that year on, Peruvian shipments suffered a sustained fall until reaching US $ 171 million in 2019 (25% less).
The contraction in Peruvian shipments is explained by the main capsicum of the Peruvian agro-export basket: paprika (26% less production) and pepper (16% less). The second cause, one of the most important, was due to the mishandling of vegetables during the production process.
