Purple passion fruit, largely grown in the Western region of Kenya with some small production in Rift Valley and Central Kenya, is popular in export markets and fresh juice production. Domestic processors and exporters are competing for supply of passion fruit. In the domestic market during W40 purple passion was trading at USD 1.00/kg compared to USD 0.67/kg during the production season. For processors with contracts with farmers the price is fixed at USD 0.67/kg. Most fruit is currently being sourced from Kisii and Eldoret in Rift Valley.
