Since W48, FCL of Turkish lemons arrive in Japan on a bi-weekly basis, and some of the latest arrivals contain damages and deteriorations caused by cold treatment. Before delivering the fruit to the market, the importer is forced to make an extra quality inspection and repacking for defective fruit removal. The market started to respond to such quality issues by slowing down the purchase activities of Turkish lemons. Even though the movement is being slowed down, the importer receive more FCL entries in the coming weeks, so they may consider discount sales to avoid overstock.
