Red delicious apples from Turkey is becoming the most preferred apple variety by Kenyan customers

Turkey is one of the biggest apple producers in the world with a production area of 175,000 hectares and an annual production volume of 3,610 kmt. The country is currently ranked 3rd in the world for apple production following China and the United States. Turkey has exported 256 kmt of apples in the past year for a total export value of 90 million USD.

Turkey offers many apple varieties such as Starking, Golden Delicious, Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Fuji, and Rosy. Turkish suppliers have slowly been developing their export volume in Kenya and the Kenyan consumers appear to be most interested in the Red Delicious variety due to its color and sweet taste.
