Ribbonfish Prices in Morocco Are Higher in the 2023 Winter Season Than in the Summer of 2022

As the 2023 winter season started a few days ago in Morocco, prices of head-off and tail-off ribbonfish seem to be 10% higher compared to summer 2022 prices. The average 2023 winter price is at USD 3.1/kg FOB Agadir for all sizes, whereas the prices during the 2022 summer season were at an average of USD 2.75/kg FOB Agadir for size 500/900 and USD 2.35/kg for size 300/500. The higher winter price is mainly due to the high demand coming mainly from South Korea, and shortages of supplies. As the season goes on, prices may return to normal once fisheries can offer more ribbonfish.
