Many cities in Turkey have issued red alerts on the drought map shared by the General Directorate of Meteorology. Turkey had the hottest December in 2022 in the last 52 years, in which rainfall decreased drastically. The lack of snow and rain during winter exacerbates the drought situation even more. Dams levels in many parts of Turkey are critically low and started to fall below the risk level. If these drought conditions continue, the production of fruit and vegetables during this period will most certainly be negatively affected.
