Supply Shortage of White Sunflower Seed Kernels in Turkey

Sunflower seed kernel harvesting continues in various regions of Turkey. In recent years, and notably in 2023, farmers have been cultivating and harvesting a sunflower seed kernel variety of Chinese origin to meet market demand and reduce imports from China. Consequently, there is a significant shortage of white sunflower seed kernels in Turkey in 2023, despite it being the primary variety planted and produced. Manufacturers anticipate that this supply-demand situation will normalize in 2024.
