One of the largest grain market operators in Ukraine, "NIBULON," has transformed its terminal in Izmail into a regional river hub for niche crops and supplies to the EU, with the handling volumes at the facility being ten times lower than the peak figures of 2022-2023. This was reported by the grain trader's Trade and Logistics Director, Volodymyr Slavinsky, as shared by the Danube-online press service on Facebook. "The volumes on the Danube are far from what they were during the peak period. When we were still building the terminal in Izmail, we laid down a model that it should be sufficiently flexible and low-cost to transform into a regional river terminal for loading coasters and barges for supplying niche products to the EU's internal market in case the deep-water ports resume operations.
