High Yellowtail Prices in Japan in W4

Since the farmers loaded the ponds with a lot of baby yellowtail in 2022, it is forecasted that the number of yellowtails with shipment sizes will rise from Autumn 2022 (Mid-September) through February or March 2023. The filet market price in W4 stood at USD 15.31/kg (JPY 2.2K/kg) (about 1.7-1.8kg/pc). The average price of yellowtails is around USD 10.72/kg (JPY 1.4K/kg) in W4, which is quite high. Even though there is a harvest of yellowtails, the primary industry is the distribution of fresh fish due to a shortage of farming. The round freeze often begins in April 2023, and the number of landings in western Japan rises.
