According to one of the buyers from Britanny, Britanny has always been slightly chauvinistic, but now with the environment issues, it’s even worse. Buying from outside Europe is not widely appreciated in this region of France. However, one product makes the exception, Florida grapefruit.

Besides the US market, the grapefruit is mainly sold in Canada, Europe, and Asia (Japan and South Korea). Around 30,000 MT are marketed in France each year. This volume makes France the largest European importer and the French the second-largest consumer globally after Japan.

The Florida grapefruit has the particularity of having a smooth rind dotted with small brown spots, called "kiss of the sun" (in French: Baiser du Soleil). This exceptional grapefruit is distinguished by the richness of its juice, its low bitterness, the sweetness of its taste, its pink and firm flesh as well as the rarity of its pips.
