South African suppliers are slightly uneasy as the EU Green Deal could heavily reduce food imports to the region. The set of policies is designed to make the region climate-neutral and focus on EU-grown produce by 2050. Suppliers who grow crops already produced in the EU will receive the hardest hit whilst those who grow crops not grown in the EU, such as bananas, stand the most to gain.
