Coconut Export Revenues of Sri Lanka in 2021 increase by 26%

Sri Lanka has accumulated a new record of USD 834 million for its export of coconuts in 2021. This is a strong 26% annual growth. Last year, the nation earned these revenues from exporting coconut products such as kernel, fiber, and shells. During 2020, exports of coconuts amounted to a total of US$661 million.

The kernel export jumped up to 37% compared to 2020, fiber products rose by 9%, and shell products increased by 42%. Sri Lanka produces three billion coconuts annually, and two billion nuts are consumed locally out of those. Coconut is one of the top crops after tea in Sri Lanka.
