Taiwan resumes pomelo exports to Japan after 20-year hiatus, a shipment of 11 Tons (3600 cases) of Pomelo was loaded and headed to Tokyo. One hundred of the 3,600 boxes of pomelos will be donated to Japanese schools as a gesture of goodwill. According to Taiwan's Agriculture Bureau, China is the biggest export market for the country's pomelos, accounting for 89% in 2019 and 71% from Jan to August in 2020. The island has sought to increase pomelo exports to Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, and Japan in order to reduce reliance on China and diversify the market. Taiwan is eyeing a target of over 5,000 tons in shipment in 2020.
