The Government of Tanzania has issued permits to import 90K MT of rice and has removed some taxes so that the supply can increase in the market. This is due to the market price which has reached all-time highs between USD 1.07-1.5/kg in W8, compared to USD 0.5-0.9/kg in early 2022. The price is expected to drop in early March due to the arrival of the first shipment of rice.
