Before the China National Holidays (October 1-7 2022), imported sesame prices rose due to the RMB's sharp depreciation. However, in W41 market enthusiasm was reduced, and in W42 the price and sales dropped.

The average price for south grade sesame in W39 stood at USD 1862.04-1931.52/mt (RMB 13,400-13,900/mt) and remained consistent into W41. The price for mix grade sesame decreased from USD 1,821-1,876.29/mt (RMB 13,100-13,500/mt) in W39 to USD 1,778.75-1,806.42/mt (RMB 12,800-13,000/mt) in W41. White grade sesame decreased from USD 1,778.11-1,805.89/mt (RMB 12,800-13,000/mt) in W39 to USD 1,737.04-1,778.83/mt (12,500-12,800/mt) in W41.

The price decreases were due to an estimated 250,000-300,000mt of stock per month in Qingdao port, which is a higher than normal stock level, as well as the RMB's currency fluctuations.
