Many Ecuadorian shrimp processing plants are not willing to send shrimp samples due to the cost and risk implications. Shrimp samples must be exported on air-fright at a temperature of -18°C, so they need to be packed in special boxes with dry ice for shrimp to arrive in good condition. Shipping a 20kg shrimp sample from Ecuador to Singapore would cost around USD 1K, and in the appropriate packaging, it would maintain a good condition for 3-4 days. If there are any shipping delays, the sample could get ruined and the exporter would loose the investment.
