According to producers and importers, oranges from Morocco are in constant demand on the European market, especially in France, Spain and the Netherlands. The Valencia Late season is approaching its peak production period and is expected to run until the first week of September. The 2022 production has been impacted by a heat wave which has reduced the expected shelf life of oranges. Resultantly, many oranges are destined for the European market due to the short transit time. In terms of size, the current season is marked by lower volumes of large sizes with an abundance of caliber 6, 7 and 8. Despite this, prices are constantly increasing due to the shortage of South African oranges in the European market. Week 31 prices are between EUR 0.60/kg and EUR 0.65/kg EXW with the price expected to increase to EUR 0.80/kg EXW in week 32.
