Earlier this week, the Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia attended the opening of the harvest season of soybeans in the Medan regency of North Sumatra . The week also marked the beginning of soybean harvest in other regions such as Mandar and Deli Serdang. It is projected that farmers in these regions collectively would be able to produce around 200 KMT of soybean until the end of December 2020. This will be important to accommodate the high demand for soybean from the national tofu and tempe industry in Sumatra and Java, which in the past has relied on soybean imports from the U.S. and Canada.
