Despite the lack of rainfall and high summer temperatures, it has been an excellent 2022 campaign for Italian aubergines. In 2021 the total production amounted to 600,000MT of which 15% came from greenhouses. Italian production has experienced a slight decline in volumes so far in 2022 but the quality remains high. The high quality and great flavour resulted in high demand with supply unable to keep up. Thus, in W35 the wholesale price of aubergines increased from USD 0,52/kg to 0,57/kg EXW.
