To anticipate the possibility of inclement weather that is projected to hit the western part of Indonesia in the middle of and until the end of December 2020, the majority of the vanilla farmers in the Central Java province are currently building a portable greenhouse that can be used to protect their crops. They have also adopted the usage of coconut meat as the plantation media, as opposed to planting their vanilla out in the open space and in soil.

This method is also chosen to anticipate the long drought and higher-than-average temperature during the summer that has hampered this region in the past 3 years. The farmers expect that this method could help them to protect their crops from extreme weather condition, as well as improve the quality and the quantity of their product.
