Tomato Retail Prices in Marikina City, Philippines, Hit Record High Due to Supply Shortage During W36

The Department of Agriculture reported that the tomato retail prices in Marikina City in the Philippines have reached a record high of USD 5.28/kg (PHP 300/kg) due to a shortage in supply. The tomato price in W36 is higher by USD 1.23 (PHP 70) compared to the previous price of USD 4.04/kg (PHP 230/kg) in W35. Other markets in the Philippines have reported similar prices, ranging from USD 3.52/kg to USD 3.69/kg (PHP 200/kg to PHP 210/kg). Meanwhile, tomatoes continue to command a high wholesale price, ranging from USD 2.11/kg to USD 2.29/kg (PHP 120/kg to PHP 130/kg).
