Traditional exports from the fishing sector in 2020 observed the growth of approximately 22.5% and added USD 294 million to the sector. This was an increase in comparison to the growth in 2019. The exports represented 11.9% of total traditional exports, which reached USD 2,464 million in July and were only behind mining shipments, which accounted for 86% of traditional shipments. This was mainly due to the recovery of fishmeal shipments, whose value amounted to USD 248.5 million, which reflects an increase of 34% compared to July 2019, when shipments totalled the only USD 184.7 million. On the other hand, fish oil exports were USD 45.7 million which reflects a 17.5% decrease decreasing in comparison to the USD 55.4 million in 2019. Non-traditional exports from the fishing sector reached US$ 123 million in July, a decrease of 22% compared to the same month in 2019. In 2019 the non-traditional fishing shipments reached approximately US$ 160 million.
