In the first ten months of 2022, 1,652MT of Turkish anchovies were exported, worth USD 9.2M. Due to weather issues, anchovy exports in 2022 decreased by 18% YoY in volume from 2000MT in 2021 and dropped 21% YoY in value from USD 11.5M in 2021. Until October 2022, anchovies were exported to France for USD 3.8M, followed by Belgium for USD 2.9M, and the USA for USD 752,000. Anchovy was not caught as much during the new season in November due to high temperatures, resulting in low anchovy exports. It is expected that as the weather cools, anchovy catches will become more abundant, and as a result, exports will increase.
