Turkish milk farmers sell their products at a loss

Turkish milk farmers are selling raw milk at 0.29 USD per liter due to the increased production costs. The average production cost is at around 0.34 USD per liter.

The milk farmers are protesting against the current situation and note that they will not be able to continue their production if the prices do not improve rapidly. The main reason behind the problem is pointed out to be the reference price which is announced at 0.29 USD per liter in the last 5 years and was not adjusted despite the increasing production costs of the milk farmers. The production cost of milk went up by 50% in the last 11 months due to the increases in bale and alfalfa prices.
