Since March 2020, due to the COVID-19 Vietnam's fruit exports to the US have slowed down. To promote fruit export from Vietnam to the US, the US Department of Agriculture has recently agreed to send plant quarantine specialists back to Vietnam; previously the US plant quarantine specialists returned back to the US due to COVID, significantly halting Vietnam's export process. Before irradiation of fruit (as a rule, irradiation is a must for exporting fruit to the US), the quarantine specialists must check for any microorganisms in the fruit that may be harmful. If the product does not contain microorganisms, then the fruit is cleared to be exported to the US.
