In W41, fresh durian from Southern Thailand produced 50% less than average. Frozen durian is created from fresh durian, and thus a low volume of fresh durian created a shortage of frozen durian, affecting its production. The price for buy-in fresh durian from packing houses is double the average price of USD 1.73/kg while in season (April-July). The cost has increased to USD 3.05/kg and has limited the production of frozen durian due to the fresh durian shortage. Fresh durian is forecasted to be available to harvest in November 2022.
