In Japan, a short sunshine duration has lasted since early Oct-22 until W42. According to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, the sunshine duration on the seacoast of the Sea of Japan is almost half when compared to Oct-21. Autumn tomatoes in such areas are taking longer than usual to ripen despite growing in size because temperatures are getting lower as the winter season arrives. Tomatoes have already started their harvest season, but the volume in the market has decreased by 40% compared to last year. It is forecasted that tomato production will not increase sharply in the market without consecutive sunny days.
