The European market has finally started to regain its dynamic following the peak-season imports of Peruvian avocados. The Peruvian avocado supply in the French market was cleared up by the promotions near the end of the campaign. Without Peruvian avocados, there is a higher demand for larger and medium-sized fruits. In W45, avocado in sizes 12/14/16 is priced between USD 11.97-14.57/4kg, depending on the origin. Avocados from Colombia and Mexico have the market's lowest price range, while Chilean and Israeli avocados sell for USD 14.05-14.57/4kg. As for medium sizes, avocados are priced between USD 10.41/4kg for size 20 of Colombian origin and USD 14.05/4kg for size 18 of Chilean origin.

The European market has demand for up to size 22 from retail vendors and caterers, priced at USD 9.37/4kg and USD 12.49/4kg for Colombian and Chilean origins, respectively. Smaller avocados, ranging in size from 24 to 32, and especially the baby avocado, have less demand on the European market. The size 24 still manages to gain value, especially if it is packed in a 4 kg box, priced at USD 2.08-2.86/kg. However, from size 26, the value drops to USD 1.98/kg, even reaching USD 1.35/kg for size 32. This is because Colombia exports a lot of small fruit, which the EU market cannot support. At the moment, Colombia represents almost 20% of the avocado imported to Europe, and if the highest percentage of its fruit is small, the market for this fruit segment will not improve in the short term.
