The northern region of Namibia has been recently devastated by very large wildfires, destroying grazing land spanning across a region of 30 000 ha approximately, damaging 11 farms in the process. After the fire had seized the damage calculated amounted to R30 million, based on the consumption per head of cattle, which amounted to 13.5 kg daily, valued at R6.75 daily. The value of the grass is at R1000/ha with the quantity of 2t/ha. The grazing land lost was enough to feed 6000 cattle for 9 months.
