The tomato price dropped a bit further last week. We also see lower average prices for the other greenhouse vegetables at the VBT for week 16 than in week 15.

Tomato prices at the Association of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives, even with a decrease, are still well above the five-year average. The same was true this winter for many EU countries, as we showed yesterday using figures. The drop in the cucumber price is particularly striking in the VBT figures. The average unit price is 13.5 euro cents. The moderate spring weather undoubtedly plays a role here, as a result of which the demand is less than with a nice sun and higher temperatures. The price drop is not very unusual. Around this time, the price drops back more often, as shown in the chart below. However, the price is now below the five-year average. The bell pepper price continues to do well. Last year around the end of April, a deep dip was recorded. For now, the price is far from that.
