In January 2024, Peru experienced a 2.0% increase in national paddy rice production, totaling 229,103 tons, thanks to favorable weather conditions. This growth was primarily observed in the regions of Tumbes, Lambayeque, and San Martín, which contributed to more than half of the overall production. Despite this positive trend, some areas like Piura, Pasco, and Madre de Dios faced production declines, with Piura's decrease notably caused by intense rainfall. The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) highlighted these findings in their recent report.
