Project discloses products derived from goat and sheep milk to encourage consumption

The creation of goats and sheep for the production of milk and its derivatives is an activity still little known in Brazil. Motivated to change this situation, Izabel Carneiro, a researcher at Embrapa Caprinos e Ovinos, created the project “Caravan milk goat and sheep”, whose actions are developed in partnership with the company Caseum Queijos. The main objective of the project is to publicize the creation of small dairy ruminants and to share technical and scientific information about the two sectors and their opportunities. One of the first results of this work was the inclusion of goat and sheep milk in a bill by state deputy Coronel Henrique (PSL-MG), which aims to carry out marketing actions to promote the consumption of milk and, initially, it would cover only bovine milk.
