The Aromia bungii Contingency Plan aims to define actions to prevent the introduction of this pest in the national territory and establishes the necessary phytosanitary measures for its eradication, in the event of an outbreak being detected, thus preventing its spread. Originally from Asia, this emerging pest is considered extremely dangerous for fruit species of the genus Prunus, being capable of causing high damage to peach and apricot trees and being considered serious for plum and cherry trees. In the European Union it has already been detected in the United Kingdom (2008), Germany (2011 and 2016) and Italy (2012, 2013 and 2017).
