Spanish brotherhoods express mixed emotions towards the EU Fisheries Ministers' agreement for a 20% increase in mackerel and southern hake quotas for 2023, but express concerns over the reduction in horse mackerel total allowable catch (TAC) in the northwestern Cantabrian Sea. They also criticize the 7% reduction in fishing days in the Mediterranean for the Spanish fleet, which they believe will cause socio-economic issues. Despite these concerns, they are positive about the agreement with the UK for albacore fishing and the improvement in hake, monkfish, megrim, whiting and blue whiting quotas in the Atlantic.
