The importation of yerba, this year, reached an important record when compared with previous years. In this sense, the latest official data showed that, until August, our country had already bought almost the same annual imported volume in 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. Why is there unrest in the productive sector? Everything would indicate that the workers of Misiones, the motherland from which the yerba is acquired, want the Government to stop imports of this product. El Agrario spoke exclusively with Cristian Klingbeil, president of APAM -Agricultural Producers Association of said province-, and alternate director for production at INYM - National Institute of Yerba Mate-, to better understand the situation.
