The Turkish Statistical Institute reports that Turkey's pulses production reached 1.57 million tons in 2021, an increase from 1.23 million tons in 2020. Chickpea was the largest contributor, followed by beans, red lentils, and broad beans. Turkey is the world's second-largest chickpea producer and fourth-largest lentil producer. The country's chickpea yield increased from 98 kilograms to 123 kilograms per decare from 2002 to 2020. Lentil production increased due to support applications and projects, and dry bean production hit a record high of 305 thousand tons in 2020.
